Farmlife fun for the whole family

Custom-crafted Mayfair Pool

Rolling home after a day at school there is nothing better than spending the remainder of a hot summer’s afternoon practicing manus, swimming lengths and cooling off the dog! For this farming family in Broadlands, that’s exactly what the dream was all about – as well as offering the ability to suit this talented family’s fitness goals with a generous lap pool for their daily lengths.

The size and shape of the pool was important for a number of reasons – it needed to suit the scale of the family homestead and very large lawn area, as well as tick off the needs of the family – with an area for kids to play games, dive and bomb, a generous lap pool to swim lengths and a well-designed area for relaxing poolside with friends and family.

For this busy farming family, having the ability to squeeze in daily lengths in between family commitments, all in their own backyard, has been a game-changer. But it hasn’t only been to the benefit of mum and dad:

“The kids swimming technique and ability has improved exponentially since we’ve had the pool,” says Karla.

Situated on the western side of the house, the peaceful views north across the family farm are nothing short of idyllic. Glass balustrade fencing from Belaire maximise the sweeping views, whilst a concrete block wall protects the pool area from prevailing winds.

The pool is heated with a HiPEC solar unit from Sunbather – which for a pool of this size, located in the Central North Island could present challenges, however the temperatures it reaches are reminiscent of a Fijian resort!

Bombs, relaxation, morning laps, bottle of wine poolside, resort-at-home - this family pool offers it all!
